Streetsmart is a wonderful way for restaurants and customers to help make a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless. The StreetSmart initiative fundraises for local Cork charities, working with homeless people during the festive season only. A voluntary €2 per table will be added to your bill in participating restaurants from the 1st of December 2008 to the 7th of January 2009. If you wish to give more, or prefer not to contribute, just say so. All funds raised go directly Cork Simon Community and the Good Shepherd Services.
Cork Simon Community works in solidarity with men and women who are homeless, offering housing and support in their journey back to independent or supported living. For more information on Cork Simon visit their website www.corksimon.ie
Good Shepherd Services reaches out to women, girls and children who are homeless, providing accommodation and support. For more information on Good Shepherd Services visit their website

“From my experience of participating in Streetsmart, the small contribution from customers and a little effort from restaurants adds a feel-good glow to the restaurant experience of both staff and customers. It’s a win-win situation for everyone concerned.”
